Adam Hennigar CD, B.Eng, B.Sc.
Managing Broker
As a Managing Broker for Sutton, I am part of the executive team. I bring a strong educational background to the company, along with practical leadership from my 13 years with the Navy.
I joined Sutton as a REALTOR® in 2004 and I have accomplished a lot since then. I have nearly completed my MBA degree, attained my Managing Brokers license, and become an Alternate Regional Director of the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS® (NSAR). I am committed to improving our industry through NSAR volunteer work: I have been involved in the Public relations committee, standard forms committee and a task force developing new education standards for the industry.
We have created a succession plan for the company and I will be taking the reigns from Alan and Jeannine as they gradually enjoy more of the good life. My vision for the company is growth. I want Sutton to be recognized as the best company an agent can work for, with a leading market share. I will continue our tradition of extraordinary customer service and the highest business ethics – as shown by our 98% satisfaction rating in each of the last three years.
Currently, I share leadership responsibility with our Broker, Alan. In addition to this, I am jointly responsible for recruiting, coaching and training with Jeannine, our other Managing Broker. I am also responsible for technology and new product development.
Alan Hennigar B.Comm. FRI
Broker
Alan was born and raised in Halifax and has a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University. His varied careers in accounting, construction, property management, sales, and business ownership led him to Real Estate in 1985.
In all his years in Real Estate, Alan has always strived to improve his knowledge. He holds the prestigious Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI) designation. This designation is recognized as Canada's pre-eminent Real Estate designation. The FRI is a mark of excellence earned by very few. Only the top Real Estate professionals who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the highest standards of education, experience and ethical conduct in the Real Estate industry are able to achieve this distinction.
Since opening Sutton Group – Professional Realty in 1992, Alan has concentrated on running a strong ethical business and he is very respected as an industry leader.
In addition to his work at Sutton Group Professional Realty, Alan has spent many years as a volunteer committee member and task force chairperson for the Nova Scotia Association of Realtors and the Nova Scotia Real Estate Commission. Through his work with these organizations, Alan has been able to remain at the cutting edge of the Real Estate industry by working shoulder to shoulder with other professionals at the very top of the Real Estate industry.
Today, in his spare time, Alan works out regularly at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, and enjoys playing racquetball and golf. He also loves "getting dirty" in his vegetable and flower gardens and his yearly retreat to Clearwater, Florida in the winter for that "fun in the sun" experience.
Jeannine Hennigar ABR
Managing Broker
I was born and raised in the French Acadian Village of Meteghan on Nova Scotia’s French Shore. I moved to Halifax in my late teens to pursue a career as a nursing assistant. After ten years of hospital work, I stayed home to raise two boys.
In 1985 I became a licensed real estate agent. I chose this career because I felt that my experiences in life made me a good candidate. I found that indeed, real estate was a great choice because I love what I do and I love working with the public.
I have attained my Managing Broker designation and have been an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) since 1994. I am also the Quality Assurance Manager for our ISO 9001-2000 certification.
Along with Adam, I am involved in recruiting and training agents. It’s a great reward to see agents achieve their goals and life dreams. I find that selling to friends, family and past clients keeps me in touch with the industry and that allows me to be of greater assistance to all Sutton agents.
I have been a volunteer at the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS® with 5 years on the Professional Standards Committee and 2 years on the MLS committee. I believe that everyone should become involved in helping our association improve for the benefit of our clients who entrust their faith in us.
In my spare time I love to sew and do crafts, particularly scrap booking. My needle point creations and pickling skills have earned me top awards at the Atlantic Winter Fair.
